A checklist for buying used devices
Practical steps, with clear limits on what a registry can do.
Match the identifier
Read the IMEI or manufacturer serial on the physical device and compare it with the seller’s paperwork.
Search and inspect
Check this registry, then test charging, connectivity, controls and setup. No report found does not guarantee a device is safe to buy.
Complete the handover
Make sure the seller removes linked accounts and management restrictions. Keep a receipt and an appropriate record of the seller.
