How to check a used Samsung Galaxy

Where to find a Samsung IMEI

Open Settings > About phone on the Galaxy, or dial *#06#. Most Galaxy phones are dual-SIM, so you will usually see two IMEI numbers. Search each one.

The IMEI is also printed on the original box. Compare the numbers rather than trusting a photo or screenshot sent by the seller.

What this check covers

ReportMyPhone searches reports that owners have submitted here and that a reviewer has approved. If the Galaxy has been reported, you will see the warning and any contact details the owner agreed to share.

We do not connect to Samsung, mobile networks or the GSMA blocklist, so a clean result is not a guarantee on its own.

Account locks on Samsung phones

Android phones use Factory Reset Protection: after a reset, the phone asks for the Google account that was last signed in. Samsung phones can also be locked to a Samsung account.

The safe order is: the seller removes their Google and Samsung accounts in Settings > Accounts and backup, then you factory reset and set the phone up yourself while the seller is still with you.

Signs to slow down

A phone that only shows a lock screen, a seller who will not reset it in front of you, a Galaxy that keeps restarting into a setup or "device locked" screen, or a price that seems too good to be true.

Common questions

How do I find the IMEI on a Samsung?

Dial *#06# or open Settings > About phone. Most Galaxy phones show two IMEI numbers.

What is Factory Reset Protection?

An Android security feature that asks for the last Google account after a reset. A phone with FRP still on is not usable without the previous owner.

Can you track my stolen device?

No. A registry report does not provide live location or remote device control.

Does no report mean it is safe to buy?

No. A loss may not have been reported here. Ask for purchase evidence, inspect the device and confirm that you can complete setup.

Are activation locks and carrier blocklists included?

No. Manufacturer, activation, network blocklist, finance and MDM providers are not connected.

How does reporting work?

Submit the identifier, incident information, contact details and ownership evidence. A reviewer must approve the report before a warning or contact details appear in searches.
