How to report a stolen phone in Australia
Four steps to take right away.
1. Report it to police
Report the theft to police and note the event or report number. Call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
2. Ask your provider to block the phone
Australian providers can block a lost or stolen phone using its IMEI, which stops it working across Australian mobile networks. Contact your provider as soon as possible.
3. Lock and erase
Use Find My or Find My Device to lock the phone, show a contact message, and erase it if you cannot recover it.
4. Check before you buy
Before buying second hand, check the IMEI with the industry lost and stolen phone check, and search for owner reports here.
