How to report a stolen phone in Brazil

Four steps to take right away.

1. Register a police report

Register a boletim de ocorrência (police report). Many states let you do this online.

2. Use Celular Seguro

The federal government's Celular Seguro service lets you send one alert to participating banks, apps and operators to block your line and accounts. Register trusted contacts in advance so they can trigger it for you.

3. Ask your operator to block the IMEI

With the police report, your operator can block the SIM and the handset IMEI so the phone cannot be used on Brazilian networks.

4. Lock and erase

Use Find My or Find My Device to lock and erase the phone remotely, then change passwords for banking and email.
